Creative Coloring Books For Children

Coloring has been a favorite activity for kids for decades now, and you probably remember your coloring books from when you were a kid too. Coloring for kids encourages artistic behavior as well as concentration and critical thinking.

There are a few different types of coloring books. The first are with blank pictures, lines and numbers. Each number is associated with a different color, so your kids can turn a blank white page into an amazing piece of work, like a sunset with giraffes in Africa. These types of coloring puzzles require your children to pay attention to what and where they are coloring, so that their picture turns out they way they want it to.

For younger kids, a coloring book without the numbers, just blank characters would be better. This type of coloring book will expand your child’s creativity very well. Giving them the chance to turn a color-less lion into a half purple half green creature of their imagination (or dreams) will have a profound effect on your kids later in life. People tend to lose their creative side when they get older, so it’s important to encourage this when your kids are young.

Coloring books are usually pretty inexpensive, but you don’t have to go to the store to get a coloring book. You can find blank coloring sheets online, print them out and make your own coloring book with and for your kids. There are plenty of websites you can find these blank sheets on, my favorite is Pitara because they have such a big selection of coloring sheets.

You could also find a picture of your child’s favorite cartoon character, load it up in some type of photo-editing software and manually remove all the color from it. Then print it out and let your kids re-color it in however they want. This is a very simple thing that can keep your kids active all day long.

Will narrates this tender and humble dedication to the book The Little Prince. THE DEDICATION: TO LEON WERTH I ask the indulgence of the children who may read this book for dedicating it to a grown-up. I have a serious reason: he is the best friend I have in the world. I have another reason: this grown-up understands everything, even books about children. I have a third reason: he lives in a country where he is hungry and cold. He needs cheering up. If all these reasons are not enough, then …

Help answer the question about books for children

children books that deal with gifted characters?
I am looking for books that contain gifted characters. I am aspiring to be an elementary school teacher and have been unable to locate any children books that deal with gifted characters. There are many childrens books that deal with special needs or children with disabilities, but I can't seem to find any that deal with the opposite. Children like to hear about characters they can relate to. So if you know of any short children books that have gifted characters in them please let me know.

By children's book, I mean a short 20-30 page book with pictures, Not a novel.

Well, this is what my friend did for my goddaughter (she is 4) who was my flowergirl.
She was my MOH, so she had one of our friends sit at the front of the aisle…we told the flowergirl that this person had a special present for her, so after she was done with the flowers she should go to her. We had a little present (I think it was a Polly Pocket) which kept her entertained throughout the whole ceremony…and she was very quiet.
You just need to make sure that you have someone who can sit with them, give them some coloring books, etc. Although, it might be hard to get them to sit still for 30 minutes. Maybe it would be best if they are escorted to the back of the church with a close friend so that they are tempted to run up to you guys.

Oh my goodness it did just the opposite for me! I colored in coloring books as a child and I am highly intuitive to art. I had a minor in art when I attended college and plan on taking more art classes when the children get older.

Color books are not only fun, but they do encourage creativity and they encourage coordination and fine motor skills. Not everything *has* to be about child education. Let the kids have fun! Go nuts!! :)

My daughter always adored crafts at that age, beads and some cool elastic or string, even fishing line. Choose beads that can be either beautiful (princess-like :) ) or fun and cheerful. You have chosen well with the art supplies, perhaps an actual sketch pad and artist's pencil so she can draw with a basic book on learning to draw, things that will occupy her mind and give her some sense of self-satisfaction and contentment. I don't know if you are allowed to, but a picture of you with an encouraging note on the back may mean a lot to her :)

    Good luck, and God bless.

Never hurt or punish your child. Just say no. IF your going to punish your child do it mentally although don't torture them mentally. You do this by taking stuff that means alot to them like video games, tv, computer whatever. Just don't take away really important things like food and water since that is cruel. And if you have problem with scribblers on walls get the markers that only write on paper that way it will stay on paper and not your walls. I grew up perfectly normal without being punish except for having tv and my books taken away along with drawing and reading when I was being really bad. MY cousins however got beaten and now one can go to the bathroom properly the other needs someone everywhere including the bathroom and the other can't eat right since she is paranoid into thinking anything she does is bad and she will get beaten. [Thats about it.. sorry if this doesn't help or is to vague but I got to go]

First of all, let me tell you that this seems admirable. Second, let me tell you, it's a little agressive. She is one…still a baby and still needs "space" to discover and explore on her own. She will not be able to "remember" or retain information such as #'s, letters, words, etc. until she is almost 3…so all of this, although not entirely in vain, is a bit much. She should read to her and play blocks, stacking, working in dexterity and those types of things. What adults seem to forget is that in ONE year, this infant has gone from being born to knowing soooo much….and to continue to push that is just going to get you a very stressed child. A child will show their stress by throwing tantrums, being very disagreeable and being extremely whiny. If she exhibits any of these signs, you must back off!
She is only there for a 5 hour period and she naps 1 to 2 times in that time frame as well.
I find it much more stimulating for a child to be outside and being walked or being introduced to other children in similar age or a bit older.
Relax mamma….she has many, many years to learn all of these things that we all learn!

Add more detail and try to show the story more. It seems like your telling the story a lot. "I thought this", "I did that", this is one of the draw backs of 1st person story telling it is hard to move away from the point of view, and adding detail will help. Also, a good allusion or a solid metaphor would be nice.
