Yes- definatately all worth the read.
BUT
The problem is the last 4 are amazing for adults AND kids and the first three are more kid friendly. So many of my adult friends can't get into them because the first book is very kid oriented, but without it you miss soooo much.
She did a great job of creating a flowing timeline where everything from A-Z relates to each other in some way. Like the invisibility cloak. Harry gets it in The Philosophers Stone, and it's pivitol in Deathly Hallows, but helps in each of the other books. Same with Sirius Black who showed up for one sentence in Phil. Stone, but was the entire plot of book 3, and carried through to the end. —The POINT of that little rant is that everything she wrote is important in some way so ALL the books are worth reading even if one is written on a more juvenile scale than the others.

All You Need Is Ears – George Martin
This is a wonderful book by the man who produced The Beatles. It's a behind the scenes look at the Beatles, their music, and the studio tricks that made them sound so great.
You can get it here: http://www.amazon.com/All-You-Need-Ears-personal/dp/0312114826
Another one of my favorites is Classical Music For Dummies. I like it because it has bios of composers, details about orchestral instruments, and it explores the many types of music composition. Over an hour's worth of classical music is included on CD.
Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/Classical-Music-Dummies-David-Pogue/dp/0764550098

Can you get hold of the bible readings ahead of time? Read them at home, discuss and then ask her to compare what you discussed to what the pastor said.
Ask her to write down questions about what is being said. If she doesn't understand something, have her ask.
Have her write down key thoughts during the sermon. Things that really hit her or makes her really think.
Try to find some good bible studies online that tie in with what is going to be preached on that Sunday. Our church actually has "children's bulletins". The basic Gospel lesson, a few minor points, and some activities… word search, coloring page, etc.
Draw pictures of what the pastor is speaking about, or a picture reflecting what she is hearing or feeling.
Give her some questions to try to answer during the sermon… who, what, where, when kind of thing.
Ask the pastor or Sunday School teacher for advice.
Let her page through the bible and find something to read in there. There are some good stories!
It really is hard to keep them tuned in, especially if it's new. And even for the kids who have attended since birth, they all hit this stage. Trust me, we've done all of the things that I have listed!!
Good luck!! Just don't let her start bringing her own books or her electronic games with her.

GREAT question!
I grew up w/ the Sears Wish book, making lists 'n checking them twice, and my teens did too
I used the book each year when they were younger and asked them to give me their top 5 picks, it was a great tool for Christmas shopping!
I hope the Wish book continues to be printed for many more years!

some good ideas would be:
bring a couple of new movies they havent seen yet maybe one they have been asking for for a while or really want to see
go to the dollar store ahead of time and pick up a few new toys so that every hour or so you can give them a new toy to keep them occupied
bring plenty of there favorite snacks
maybe take your 9 year old to the book store to pick out a new book to read
uno, old maid, or even regular cards are fun
a pack of stickers can keep a kid entertained for a while also
play i spy
you can bring puzzles with big pieces that will fit on the trey in front of you
also dont be afraid to get up and walk 9 hours is a long time for kids that young to sit still
dry erase boards would be fun so that you dont have to bring a million pieces of paper
*a change of clothes is probably not a bad idea just in case

You could try Ursula Le Guin's "Wizard of Earthsea" series, for some of the older kids.
You could also try giving them "The Brothers Lionheart" by Astrid Lindgren.
