Give Your Kids The Best Start - Introduce Books At An Early Age

Every one of us wants to give our children the best we can provide, of love, care and education. The best course is to prepare our children in a manner that will enable them to face the challenges life throws at them as they grow older. Keeping a child occupied, however, is one of the most trying jobs that parents face. Books for children, apart from helping in keeping the child occupied, can provide a lot of food for thought and are a major tool for educating children.

The habit of reading should be inculcated at an early age. After all, as they grow up they will be required to read and read more and read even more. If children are already familiar with books and have read books for children, you will find that they will not shirk from reading textbooks too.

In fact, books are the best gift you can give to your child. Books for children are available for all ages – toddlers, pre-schoolers, school going and teenagers. For smaller kids here are picture books that your young one may not understand to start with but they provide a positive association with books in general and this proves to be extremely beneficial as the child grows. Books for children that are meant for use during early childhood are very colorful and attractive. They are also made of soft material and do not harm children in any way. Reputable manufacturers ensure that the paper and ink used in them do not contain any toxic material.

As the child grows, you can look for books for children that have little words along with pictures. The child will understand that words tell a story and the pictures are associated with them. This has a very positive developmental effect on children and stands them in good stead later.

Once children cross three years you can buy books that have more of a story and less of pictures. Such books for children inculcate the habit of inquisitiveness and asking questions. Your child will reap the benefits of this habit when he/she joins school as it is only by asking questions that children can elicit additional information and knowledge from the teacher. You can also look for books for children that have rhyming words. Rhyming words are easier to memorize than simple prose. Such books for children help in developing a good memory in children.

Buying books for children is easy and once you explore the possibilities you will find it a pleasant experience shopping for them. Big book stores have separate display areas for books for children. Many stores go to great lengths to provide facilities to parents who bring their children along. They may have a play area or story time to keep children occupied while the adults look around for appropriate books.

Libraries too organize such programs to help develop the habit of reading among children. Lot of enterprising parents take upon themselves to start programs like book sharing and story time within their communities. This also provides a convenient platform for donating the books your child has outgrown from.

Help answer the question about children books

What are some children's books dealing with home fires?
I need to collect a list of "good" children's books that deal with house and home fires. In total, I need 5. These need to be appropriate for preschool to third graders, preferably picture books. The only two I have been able to find after numerous searches are "Smoky Night" and "A Chair for My Mother".

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Don't know about you, I always believed in telling my kids the truth, in an age appropriate manner. I see no problem with exposing children to information, neither promoting nor criticizing any behaviors, as long as it is age appropriate.

    i like it
    great characters
i am in grade 12 and am dreading growing up, i like the cynical view, it is refreshing
if i had to find something i didn't like much it would be sometimes the language sounds like the author is trying to put in deep adjectives for the sake of it, i am not sure if they are necessary
"euphoric skyline that draped over the jubilant grads"
it sounds good but i would personally use more simple language
if i made a magazine, i would put this in it
and if the story was in a magazine, i would buy it

LOL To Obama, the issue of race is only a distraction when HE is caught in the issue. When WHITE people touch the issue, he goes on and on about it.

As I started to read it, I had a hard time dodging the massive chunks or big words. they're piled all over the place. Spread them out a little thinner, like warm butter on bread. let your words flow freely and less complicated. Write a little more like you talk. I love it when ppl do that. You have a good story going, but I got lost a bit too. Explain the atmosphere a little more, so your reader can feel more at home and follow effortlessly. You've really put alot of work into this, and I congratulate you. Keep it up and don't quit!:)

i think if i actully gave a shit about reality t.v., I would think you're a genius. Bottom line: true journalisim doesn't mean your OWN journel. Expand yourself, you're a good writer, however this is a bore…….goood luck

I read up to the "complimentary parting prize" comment and I have to say it's pretty good but here are a few things I thought were off about the story. first, the evening sky shouldn't be described as tangerine….it sounds like it's raining fruit. I know you mean it's a beautiful evening but try something like shades of copper and violet or something more resembling orange.
The comment about "Ellie-fish" is a bit of an awkward moment. It has nothing to do with these girls going into the social club. Maybe if she were sitting at the bar reflecting on her mother's advice or something you can bring up the mother's comment of "Ellie-fish out in the big pond" but it comes out as being appropos of nothing where you have it now.
I like the story, I'd read more.
Now, when you were describing Brendan before we meet his parents, I thought you said he was the first born son. then you say he's the middle child when his parents tell him get out. I thought the way you described where he was sleeping was a bit awkward. it seemed like he was living at home then he shows up at the front door with laundry? this passage"{semi-combed hair carrying a heaping helping of a month's worth of wardrobe"} sounds sort of like the hair is carrying his laundry. That's impossible, yes, but it is a bit awkward in the phrasing.
